Are You Fit Enough For Golf?
I see it every spring. Heck, I've done it myself. That first balmy day comes along and I head to the golf range. Pick up that big bucket of golf balls, grab my driver and start pounding away. After all, I've got a whole winter's worth of rust to knock off...
The next morning I'm so stiff and sore I can hardly walk. I'm feeling twinges from muscles I didn't even remember having. Sound familiar?
My friend, it does not have to be that way.
Much of the pain comes from jolting long-unused muscles into strenuous activity. The cure is removing that "long-unused" tag. Even in the north, where golf's offseason lasts for months, you can step onto the practice tee in good enough shape to avoid the pain.
The real trick is to do exercises that improve the strength and flexibility of the muscles involved in golf-like motions.
That means a lot of stretching.
It also means a lot of cardio work if you walk your favorite courses.
