Florida Backcountry and Flats Fishing

"One of the best native Florida fishing guides, Capt. Butch Rickey reveals secrets of backcountry fishing and flats fishing in the waters of Pine Island Sound around Sanibel Island, Captiva Island, and Pine Island, and Sarasota Bay and Charlotte Harbor. In his weekly Florida fishing reports he tells all about snook fishing, redfish fishing, tarpon fishing, trout fishing, and kayak fishing. The secrets are FREE! A guided fishing trip is a real bargain!"

So says the introduction to one of my favorite fishing websites. And every word of it is true.

I first encountered Capt. Butch Rickey about four years ago. I was writing an ezine called "Outdoor Basics Weekly" at the time, and Butch had a great article on maintaing fishing reels. I emailed him for permission to use his article, and he graciously agreed.

OBW is gone, but the friendship remains. We've only met in person a couple of times on the water, because it always seemed that our schedules never meshed for a fishing trip. I'll be moving to southwest Florida later this year, so I know that will change.

One of the neat things Butch does, which I wish more guides would adopt, is post a weekly fishing report on his website. I really look forward to these reports, especially when the wind is howling and the snow drifting here in Nebraska!

If you're looking for a great day on the water, and some of the finest fishing opportunities this planet has to offer, consider booking a trip with Capt. Butch Rickey and the BarHopp'r.

Don't take my word for it, though. Click over to the website, read the weekly fishing reports and the testimonials. One of the best testimonials is the number of repeat customers Butch has.

Rating: Highly Recommended

If you'd like to learn more about what's happening in the Florida fishing world every month, get yourself a subscription to Florida Sportsman magazine. I did, and I really enjoy it, especially the Action Spotter pages.
